FULL DESCRIPTION
An early and most attractive solid oak lowboy c. 1630 with a lovely colour and retaining its original three plank top with shapely border.

The well turned legs with some old bruises and dings and slight wear to the very tips of the feet consistent with age and use. Having a most attractive knulled and chip carved drawer, the decoration also repeated to the both side panels, supported on all three sides by beautiful and original scroll carved spandrels in the Elizabethan manner. Drawer linings oak and original and in robust condition.

Purchased in 1992 (Sothebys sale of Groombridge Place Contents on 15/16 September Lot 113) and offered here at a lower price than was paid 25 years ago.

A small early oak lowboy of pleasing colour and proportions with very good provenance.
