FULL DESCRIPTION
A very handsome walnut chest of drawers made by hand in c. 1700. The chest is solid oak and dressed with beautiful, and very thickly cut, walnut veneers inlaid with boxwood stringing in excellent original condition and with a warm rich colour and attractive patina.

Substantial and robust, very heavy and usable. The drawers retain their original full oak linings, with finely hewn oak boards, dovetailed joints and nailed up bottom boards.

The brass drop handles have great age, are hand cast and sit in original holes but are 18th century replacements for the originals and of correct style for the period. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and are oak lined.

Backboards original also and the whole chest in very good original condition. Minor dings and marks but nothing significant.

A really good and rare early chest of drawers of pleasing colour and proportions.
