FULL DESCRIPTION
A very good quality mahogany tallboy with particularly well matched and vibrant mahogany to the drawer fronts and the whole in excellent original condition.

Two short over three long graduated drawers to the upper chest and four graduated long drawers to the lower chest, all with original deal linings and in excellent clean, solid and robust condition. The drawers open and close smoothly and have beautiful fine dovetailed joints. Original locks and escutcheons throughout, the solid brass handles are later but have been on the chest for many many years and good quality and appropriate for the period.

The dentil cornice surmounting a deep border of very well figured and book matched mahogany cross banding. Both left and right sides of the chest on chest without splits or significant marks and in particularly well cared condition, having come from a private house.

A lovely and completely usable example of fine quality and offering a huge amount of storage space. Minor professional restorations, small superficial dings and marks consistent with age and gentle use.

This is a substantial, heavy and beautifully made example, the panelled back indicates a skilled City cabinet maker and no expense has been spared on the quality of timber or on the care in construction. Made just after the Battle of Trafalgar in c. 1820
