FULL DESCRIPTION
An exemplary pair of elegant Napoleon III vases c. 1870 designed by Louis-Constantin Sevin (b. 1821 d. 1888) with wonderful arabesque polychrome enamel, gilt fired bronze mounts with griffin head handles and set on lion paw feet in the Egyptian manner.

In exceptionally fine original condition with no damage, losses or repairs and retaining the original hand numbered liners.

From a private collection. Both vases stamped Barbedienne.

This famous Parisian foundry was world renowned for the fine quality of the bronzes it produced in the 19th Century. Opened by Ferdinand Barbedienne in 1834, the foundry worked with and contracted with the most eminent and celebrated artists of the day, including Sevin, to produce their works and designs in bronze.

The enamel in fantastic condition also and its original bright colours, the gilt finish without wear, and the workmanship of exhibition quality.

Highly recommended.
