FULL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful elm refectory table has a truly fabulous natural colour developed over centuries of use. The very heavy and substantial four board top with lots of character, marks, losses, dings and a small patched area - all honourable scars and most attractive.

The trestle feet are heavy and extremely substantial also. These have rounded raised wooden dowels which locate into holes on the underside of the top and the table is secured with a large solid stretcher which slots through the feet and is pegged on the outer face. This allows the table to be moved in smaller sections and makes it easier to move through doorways and corridors.

The table has had woodworm in the elm legs at some point which has been treated and is long since dead and does not affect structure. The stretcher is a later replacement but this is well blended and is a professional restoration and not noticeably later.

The table dates from c. 1680 but has repairs, some later timbers, restorations and marks, losses and bruises consistent with age and long use.

Seating eight to ten people in comfort, the table is a really stunning example, is a comfortable height with a standard dining chair (seat height of 17-18 inches) and there is ample leg room with the stretcher at a good height and out of the way.

The table top is exceptionally heavy and our courier will require three pairs of strong hands to assist with delivery.

A table of great charm which will last many more lifetimes.
