FULL DESCRIPTION
The single long single drawer with original oak lining and small brass drop handles with snaped tails - probably original and certainly period and in original handle holes. The drawer opens and closes smoothly and retains its original escutcheon and riveted iron lock.

To front and back faces, the aprons have been well carved with stepped down sides and lovely shaping, with peaked centres and the side aprons are similarly shaped - the design lovely and of high quality, the lowboy made with great thought and care by a skilled maker in around 1695.

The column and ring turned legs are united by a lovely double heart shaped stretcher - the whole table of most attractive and well balanced proportions with no later timbers, all the oak elements original and with medullary rays visible on the inner faces and drawer linings, drawer bottom boards run left to right. Original pegged joints throughout all solid with no movement. Heavy and robust.

A lovely original and early Welsh oak side table, beautiful and highly recommended.
