FULL DESCRIPTION
A superb Queen Anne oak court cupboard with a fantastic colour and of lovely proportions.

In superior original condition and with a beautiful patina. Backboards fixed with original forged iron nails. Substantial fielded panelled and framed sides, original top, bottom, intermediate and back boards. Both upper and lower cupboard doors, with fielded panels in channel carved stiles, open smoothly and close properly on concealed original iron pintel hinges.

Condition: Excellent with original timbers throughout other than one later slim backboard (as shown on our photographs) and one replaced short bottom board. Some old worm holes (long dead and very old) small losses and bruises consistent with age and use. Internal shelves and narrow bead around cornice are 19th century additions - the colour and detail has been perfectly matched.

The lovely foliate S scrolls hand carved and punch decorated frieze bearing the intials GA and the date 1705 - all original and the carving exquisite.

Beautifully turned and aged small drop finials.

Perhaps made as a gift for G.A in 1705 or made to commemorate a very special occasion.

From a private home where it is known to have been for the last 70 years, and with some provenance.

A truly superb original example.
